Why? Because I view this topic kinda awkwardly. Why? Because I read Manga and Doujinshi. So what does this have to do with THIS? Well, you follow visual cues a bit differently... How? READ THE ****ing RANT! :3

Intead of just going into myself, I'll, first, direct you to Jiraiya in Ep88 of Naruto at around, say the 2:20 marker (watch it or don't...when the definition for "movement" came up, I couldn't stop myself from thinking about this damn scene...>.<):

<lj-embed id="15" />

zOMG, in ENGLISH~ O.o
...

OKAY~ So my next rant~

Question~: Have you ever read comics? I mean AMERICAN comics. You know how to read them, right? Well, American comics read from LEFT to RIGHT, right? and our eyes have been trained to read that way; not just out of the composition of art itself, but we've been taught to read that way, so, yeah, its natural.

Now, this following photo isn't an AMERICAN comic, but a MANGA that was flipped and translated, but it reads the same::

Now, the following is the same pages from the release where the MANGA wasn't flipped but still translated. THe reading is backwards: RIGHT TO LEFT... and there is a photo of the instructions on HOW TO that was in the back of the book (I already knew how to read it)::

...

See the difference? Which can you read better?

That's not the total aspects on reading manga versus American comics. After all there are the language dirrection pathways between Japanese and English.
In ENGLISH. You read from Left to Right across horizontally:

In JAPANESE. You read from Right to Left across vertically:

See the difference?

I don't expect you to read those, thus the quality of images...

...

Doujinshi reads like manga, so I don't think I'll rant on that nor would I dare post samples of anything I personally own. XD ...but I will anyway, just 'cause I think the following page is funny:

Hidan=Idiot~~~ LoL~ I feel sorry for Kakuzu at times. Note: he has the menu upside down and is pitching a fit (as usual).
...

Since most the art I look at is either manga and anime art, that's all I really have for examples on this topic. I'm not going to use my own because I simply don't want to put my original stuff onto the web. Make sense?

For a general disclaimer to ALL the characters above: the Naruto stuff (the video clip and the doujin page) are (c) Kishimoto. The photos of manga books were taken by me. The manga in the photo: Cardcaptor Sakura (volume 1-english, english-and 10-english, japanese.) are (c) CLAMP. If I DID own either series, again, WHY THE HECK WOULD I BE DOING THIS PROJECT! The doujin cirlcle... >.< I can't remember teh name!!! DX

End rant. Texture is produced by natural forces or through an artist's manipulation of the art elements.

There are types of texture:
1. Abstract texture
...a texture derived from the appearance of an actual surface but rearranged and/or simplified by the artist to satisfy the demands of artwork.

2. Actual texture
...a surface that can be experience through the sense of touch.

3. Invented texture
...a created texture whose only sorce is the imagination of the artist. It generally produces a decorative patteren and should not be confused with abstract texture.

4. Simulated texture
...a convincing copy or translation of an object's texture in any medium.

As for EXAMPLES:

...hm...
I guess the following would be an example of "Invented texture". I used Photoshop textures to color this.
<lj-embed id="12" />
Pair by ~LadyMulti on deviantART

As for the others:
...Canvas paper. It's grainy and...stuff.
...er...Stucko.
...Paint layering.
...stuff like that, un.

The irony here, is that texture is simulated in drawings and print-art, but texture can be felt in casts/statues... and paints that are simulated (the paint layering thing, un.

The amusing this is, I have an example of one of my favorite resin statues ^.^

You can't really TELL with a photo just how great this thing really is...and this this is HEAVIER than it looks. As for the texture, the SAND (yes, that stuff represents sand) is all grainy and stuff. YOu can kinda see the texture, but, as I said...photos don't do this thing justice at all...

Here is a picture of the back of the thing.

I guess you can tell that I really love this statue. Hey, it's my Naruto series "Gaara: Sand Coffin" statue! I love it. >.< Even though he IS only my 2nd favorite character! <s>I know my favorite character would highly unapprove of this being "art", but hey...I agree with him too~: Art is a blast!</s>

Sure there is no direct shading there, but manga-style (all-ink) shading sometimes is different.

3: Chromatic
...the value of hue and its intesity.

EXAMPLES:
<lj-embed id="3" />
Tira Misu - Color by ~LadyMulti on deviantART
>.< ...so old...and its the best I've got.

<lj-embed id="4" />
Neeya by ~LadyMulti on deviantART

...Hm...I'm no good with colors. <s>Sux with colors :p</s>.

Okay~ that's all I plan to go over on "Value". :p I made use of my best examples that I had on DeviantArt anyway (well...mine anyway).

Ah well...its sad, but I guess I'll just have to rant a little bit harder on my anime/manga obsession in the posts by using them as examples (which I WILL, un!). So~ if you don't care about anime, my rants will seem off, but, you know what~~~~ I don't rightly care~~ <3
